Replenish Culture is a forward-thinking Community Interest Company (C.I.C) dedicated to empowering black and mixed heritage children who are looked after or adopted. We help them connect with their culture and identity. Our organisation firmly believes that every child deserves to embrace their roots and feel proud of their identity, irrespective of their upbringing.
At Replenish Culture, we recognise the unique challenges faced by black and mixed heritage looked after children in foster care settings. Often, they might not have access to the resources and support required to understand and embrace their cultural identity fully. As a result, they might experience feelings of displacement or disconnection from their heritage and not have a sense of belonging.
Our Mission:
Our primary mission is to bridge this gap by providing comprehensive and thoughtful hair and skin care boxes specially curated for black and mixed heritage children in care, adopted children and the wider community. These boxes are meticulously designed to not only celebrate their cultural identity but also promote self-confidence, self-esteem and educate carers into how to start the conversation around identity and culture.
Replenish Culture is an education platform which carer’s and anyone involved with children can use as a resource to up skill themselves around culture and identity.
Empowering Children:
Our hair and skin care boxes contain a wide array of products that cater specifically to the unique hair and skin needs for children with Kinky, Coily and Afro hair from black or mixed heritage backgrounds. By giving these children/carers the tools and knowledge to care for their hair and skin, we aim to empower them to embrace their cultural identity and appreciate their natural beauty. We firmly believe that when children feel connected to their heritage, it positively impacts their overall well-being and development.
Supporting Foster Carers:
In addition to empowering children, we also understand the critical role foster carers and carers play in nurturing and supporting the children in their care. Caring for children of black or mixed heritage cultures requires specialised knowledge and cultural sensitivity. Replenish Culture aims to be a resource for foster carers by providing them with educational materials, training opportunities, and ongoing support. We want to ensure that foster/carers feel confident, supported and equipped to provide the best possible care and support to these children.
