You Can Adopt

We had an extremely privileged opportunity to work with a fantastic organisation, You Can Adopt.

You Can Adopt asked us to be a part of their 2023 campaign to encourage adopters from the black community and diverse back grounds.

I was filmed talking about different types of support that are available to adopters and the role that a childs foster carer plays in supporting the adopters on their journey to become new parents.

I discussed how a foster care can be that trusted person who will help the adopters bond with the child they are looking to adopt and also can be on hand in the future for any further support the adopters might need.

In my role as a foster carer, I will try to give adopter’s the best in-depth knowledge on the child they are looking to adopt as this will help with the bonding and transition process.

No foster carer wants an adoption to fail so we can be that knowledgeable support for adopters.

I like to think of myself as the trusted aunty.

Support comes in all shape and sizes and it can be invaluable when it comes to adoption.

I love this campaign for You Can Adopt. It shines a light on the need for adopters from diverse backgrounds.

Black children in care wait longer than white children to be adopted and You Can Adopt are addressing this disadvantage.

If you can do something amazing, adopt or foster. Be that person for a child.
